Meet Ellie & Elmer

We are incredibly excited to bring David McKee’s much-loved elephant character, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant to life in what will be the most colourful Art Trail yet. Over 30 large elephants, individually designed by professional and emerging artists, will be displayed through the streets, parks and public spaces of Christchurch and the surrounding towns from November 2023 to March 2024.

Elmer’s Ōtautahi Elephant Trail will be supported by a learning programme enabling thousands of children and young people to participate in this highly visible, family-friendly art trail. Ultimately the sculptures will be auctioned to raise money to enable the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust to support people impacted by traumatic brain and other complex injuries throughout Canterbury.

Miles Construction Ltd is so proud to be partnered with our chosen artist, the talented and vivacious Ellie Compton Maker of Chaos and as it happens - artistically wonderful at creating our very own architecturally inspired Elephant! We can't wait for him to be out on the Trail with all the other Otautahi Elephants!

We can't wait to share the Trail and our sponsored Elephant in support of raising funds for the valuable hard work that the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust does within our community.
